Getting sober is an accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated. However, staying sober is not easy. That is why it is estimated that between 40 and 60 percent of people relapse. Fortunately, there are many things you can do in order to stay sober. Below is a list of tips for staying sober:

Surround Yourself With Positive Friends And Family

It will be a lot easier for you to stay sober if you surround yourself with people who will keep you on the right track. Your friends and family can motivate you and encourage you. They can also hold you accountable.

Stay Away From Negative People And Places

Many people relapse because they hang out with people who do drugs and alcohol. They may also go to places where drugs and alcohol are present. That is why it is important to stay away from negative people and places. If you have friends who use drugs and alcohol, then you will need to kindly tell them that you can no longer hang out with them.

It hurts to cut ties with people, but you may have to do that in order to stay on the right track. You should also avoid going to places like night clubs and bars.

Take Up A Hobby

Many people do drugs and alcohol because they are bored. You can fight boredom and stay sober by taking up a hobby. Find a positive activity that you enjoy. Some people have creative hobbies, such as painting and making crafts. Others prefer an outdoor activity, such as hiking or horseback riding. Your hobby will not only keep you busy, but it will also give you a sense of accomplishment.

Take Care Of Your Body

Drugs and alcohol can wreak havoc on your body. Fortunately, you can improve your health by eating right, getting plenty of rest and exercising. Negative moods can increase your risk of relapsing, but taking care of your body can boost your mood.
